The National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) is a CDC-sponsored surveillance system. It is the only state-based reporting system that pools redacted data on violent deaths from multiple sources into a usable, anonymous database. NVDRS provides states and communities with a cleared understanding of violent deaths to guide local decisions about efforts to prevent violence and track progress over time. Please visit the CDC's NVDRS website for additional information: www.cdc.gov
